Farewell Dinner

On Friday night my family and I went to gigi's down, near Manukau. This was a farewell dinner for one of our family member Chandra. On Saturday is his flight to Australia. The reason why hes going to Australia is because he has apply for a job over there. We all will truly miss him and may let out some tears at the Air port.

Anyways during the farewell dinner we all tried not to get as full to an explosion, we wanted to save just enough room for desert. Hot cakes, with six different ice cream choices, four different drizzles and all sorts of topping. Sounds like a delicious desert to me.

Everyone was full and tired. We then had restaurant service ( as i'll call them ) come in to collect our dirty food plates, and took all plates back to the kitchen. We all had a happy and enjoyable night tonight.

Day 4 - swimming with the sharks

By the end of Day #3, you have seen a lot of the north island of New Zealand.  Hopefully you have enjoyed it and you’re excited for the next phase of your journey – the ferry trip across the Cook Strait from the bottom of the north island to the top of the south island. You will spend the next two days exploring the south island before you head back up to Auckland, via Wellington (the capital city of New Zealand).

There were a lot of people in this together. Trying their very best to keep these whales alive. Unfortunately all they can ever do is to keep these whales wet. At the time tide was also racing out. Volunteers work until nightfall and hope these whales return to sea in high tide. They all tried to keep the whales blowhole clear and making sure everyone stays away from the whale tail. At  first they thought it was just a black swan. Until they took a look at what it really was.

I rate this trailer a 4 out of 5. This trailer was about a young girl named paikea uperanar. Paikea grandfather, had said in the first trailer, When paikea ( the young girl ) came along that's when everything went wrong between the chief ( Maybe ).
Paikea grandfather then gather all the firstborn boys, and said that's the only way they're going to find the answer. All the firstborn boys will learn all different sorts of qualities to become a chief.
Paike wanted to do it, but she couldn't because she was a girl, and girls could not do it except for boys.  So paikea did it herself, well with some amazing family members more like it.
Bonus activity -
I truly agree. Fisherman or any fishing people should be banned from the farewell spit. Because out there's a whole lot of sea creature that i'm surely, everybody care about.

Day 3 - Wild Eyes

Curious Kiwi, a native New Zealand bird, is your tour guide for today. He is going to take you to visit the Otorohanga Kiwi House and Native Bird Park where many of his aunties and uncles currently live. The bird park is a five hour drive from Dargaville so you hit the road right after breakfast and arrive in Otorohanga at lunch time. As you walk through the birdhouse you learn about the work being done to conserve and protect the native birds of New Zealand. You decide to help out by ‘adopting’ a native animal. Visit the Adopt a Critter page’ on the Otorohanga bird house website to choose one animal to adopt. On your blog, tell us the name of the animal that you chose and a little bit about them. What kind of animal are they? What do they eat? Where do they normally live? You can use Google to help you with your research.

After your great visit to the Otorohanga bird house it is time to hop back onto the bus and head towards the Hawke’s Bay – your resting place for the evening. Hawke’s Bay is a beautiful region of New Zealand. It is known for its wineries and gorgeous scenery. When you arrive in Napier, the largest city in the region, you go for a walk through Waitangi Regional Park and notice that many of the leaves on the native trees have been damaged. Curious Kiwi tells you that they were damaged by possums, non-native predators, from Australia. People in New Zealand are working hard to trap and kill these predators. Their goal is to remove all of the possums (and other predators) by 2050. Go to the Predator Free 2050 website’ to read more about their work.

Possums carry a disease called bovine TB. Which they sred to cattle. Possum eat about 21,000 tonnes leaves and flowers in just one night. Once possum population got very high, trappers began to make a good living from hunting them. But there are still about 30 million possum in new zealand today.

A really cool new website called Wild Eyes has recently been launched in New Zealand. It is a programme for students who want to complete fun activities (called ‘missions’), take pictures and post them on the Wild Eyes site. For this bonus activity, go to the Wild Eyes site and complete the ‘Giant Moa Discovery’ mission. To earn full points you must post a picture of your Moa on the Wild Eyes website and on your personal blog site. The Wild Eyes team and I can’t wait to see what you create!

Day 2 - New Zealand by land and sea

After a short ride through Auckland it is time to start exploring the rest of the country. Today you are going to venture arounds the north island of New Zealand to look at active volcanoes, gorgeous beaches, windswept coastline and lush, green bush. As a group, you will start at Rangitoto, the largest volcano in New Zealand before driving west to Karekare, a stunning beach on the outskirts of Auckland. After a very busy day of sightseeing you and your group drive from Tane Mahuta to your hotel in Dargaville. When you arrive you decide to sit down and record your thoughts in your travel diary.
Before you start writing, take a minute to read more about Rangitoto island, Karekare beach and Tane Mahuta.  On your blog, tell us which of the three places you most enjoyed visiting and why.
  • Wellington - I love to visit Wellington because it has a lot of different stuff, different buildings and also different selling products.

  • North - Not all the time i go up to north. But the reason why i love to visit north, is the wonderful beaches. But not just that, also to visit family members and hear what their’v been up to lately.

  • K ‘ Mart / Silver park - I will always go to those particular shopping places or malls. One reason is because they have everything you could ever imagine and two they have good shopping prices.
As an island nation, New Zealand is completely surrounded by water. It is the perfect place for people who like to swim or to sail! While in Dargaville, recovering from your busy day of sightseeing, you notice a number sailboats going
by. One of the boats is manned by a young German girl named Laura Dekker. At the age of fourteen she sailed around the world the entire world by herself. You can watch a short video clip about her adventures here: Laura Dekker sailing trip.
Let’s imagine that you had the chance to interview Laura while in Dargaville. On your blog post five questions that you would ask her.
  • What are some of your favourite places you have travelled to.
  • What inspired you to sail the world.
  • Do you love learning different things from different cultures.
  • Are you ever afraid of any sea animals or earth animals, you get the chance to visit.
  • What are some of the things you really love about sailing the world.
Bonus Activity
When you finish your interview with Laura, you decide to keep on interviewing people. For this activity, your task is to conduct a real interview with an actual member of your family. Please ask them to think about their five (5) favourite things to do in the out-of-doors. They can be things that they enjoy doing on land or in the water. Post the list of outdoor activities on your blog.

- Will love to live at Florence
- Will love to learn how to fight professionally, including a stick.
- Become a famous rapper in the future
- Becoming a gamer on youtube in the past
- And trying to become assassin creed, lets just say.

Kiwi can reflection

Kiwi Can

Throughout Term 2, our Kiwi Can lessons focussed on Responsibility,
Resilience, Communication and the best of all Integrity. We have had a lot of fun times with Kiwi Can and a lot of happiness.

These four themes helped me a lot to understand what they really mean.

For e.g

Responsibility helped me to be more of a responsible person for my own things.

Resilience helped me walk away from the trouble and ignore the person who's making trouble.

Communication helped me communicate with each other and also involving others in a game or group discussion.

Integrity help me do the right thing, be a kind person and show respect.

Today Kiwi Can took Room 7 outdoors to play the one and only Multi - Sports. We had so much fun, some laughter and encouragement.

The game was like watching a bunch of funny clowns doing a wonderful shown. All room 7 student really enjoyed playing Multi - Sports. Thanks to Kiwi Can.

Last year, the Prime Minister of New Zealand suggested that we should replace the flag with a new, updated design. He invited everyone in New Zealand to come up with their own flag design and submit it.
For this activity, it is your turn to design a new flag. Use any drawing programme that you wish.  Once you have finished, post a copy of your design on your blog. Describe the flag, in words, below the picture. Be sure to tell us what is on the flag and what inspired your design.

My flag of New zealand
I decided to go with this type of theme because i thought it looked brilliant. Down the bottom of the flag is plain yellow. I wanted to put in some yellow because it made my flag brighten up.
On the right we have a light blue. I inserted a light blue because it look like a matching colour two the dark blue. On the left we have a very dark blue. And the reason why i inserted that particular colour is because the X keys look like it went really well with the colour. And last of all the X Keys of course, That big black X Key.
