When you look up, you see a huge New Zealand flag on the top of the tower. This flag was created back in 1902. That makes the New Zealand flag 115 years old!

Last year, the Prime Minister of New Zealand suggested that we should replace the flag with a new, updated design. He invited everyone in New Zealand to come up with their own flag design and submit it.
For this activity, it is your turn to design a new flag. Use any drawing programme that you wish.  Once you have finished, post a copy of your design on your blog. Describe the flag, in words, below the picture. Be sure to tell us what is on the flag and what inspired your design.

My flag of New zealand
I decided to go with this type of theme because i thought it looked brilliant. Down the bottom of the flag is plain yellow. I wanted to put in some yellow because it made my flag brighten up.
On the right we have a light blue. I inserted a light blue because it look like a matching colour two the dark blue. On the left we have a very dark blue. And the reason why i inserted that particular colour is because the X keys look like it went really well with the colour. And last of all the X Keys of course, That big black X Key.

  2. Kia ora Whitney and welcome to the Winter Learning Journey blogging programme!! We are so excited that you have joined us this year!

I am, personally, really impressed by the amount of detail that you included in your blog. You have provided us with so much great information about all of the awesome places that you can go in Auckland and about the history of New Zealand. If you were able to choose from any of the five places that you listed in Activity #2, which place would you visit first? I think that I would go to the Auckland Memorial Museum. It is full of interesting exhibits and galleries. Where would you go?

I hope that you will continue to blog with us this holiday. I can't wait to see what other creative ideas you come up with! On that note, your flag is really bright and eye catching - great job!

    Cheers,
    Rachel :)
